I believe my passion for travel is a gift I inherited from my father. He was always planning family trips, and I eagerly accompanied him on every adventure. From a young age, I developed a deep love for exploring new destinations. As I grew older and went away to boarding school, my father encouraged me to travel solo, especially when it came to returning home for holidays. This early exposure to solo travel boosted my confidence, and by the time I was a teenager, I was already comfortable navigating new places on my own.
For a while, my travel adventures took a backseat as I focused on building my career, got married, and started a family. While we did travel as a family during this time, it wasn’t as frequent as I would have liked. In 2004, I moved to Delhi, and after trying out various career paths, I finally found my calling in human resources. I joined a multinational design firm, and by 2009, I had transitioned to another global company. This is when my business travel began, taking me to major cities like Mumbai and Bangalore. I quickly realized I could extend my weekends to explore new places, so I started planning short trips to popular travel destinations like Kerala and Goa.
My husband has always been incredibly supportive, managing our boys in my absence. As they grew older, I felt more at ease taking time out to pursue my passion for solo travel. I consider myself extremely fortunate and blessed to have a family that fully supports my travel aspirations. While we did enjoy family vacations, most of my trips were solo adventures.
Why solo travel? There are countless reasons to travel solo. Perhaps I didn’t want to wait for others to match my schedule, or maybe I started enjoying my own company. But the truth is, solo travel became a natural part of my life. From those early solo journeys from boarding school to home, to business travel, I felt empowered and at peace traveling alone. Planning my day my way became addictive. I relished the solitude of airport lounges, observing people, and sometimes even being a little judgy—just for fun.
Solo travel has become a defining aspect of my personality. There were times when I embarked on solo road trips to remote locations, where people were often shocked to see a female solo traveler. I must admit, I enjoyed the attention—and I still do.
However, solo travel isn’t without its challenges. From navigating unfamiliar territories to overcoming language barriers, I’ve learned valuable lessons in resilience and adaptability. But the rewards of solo travel far outweigh the difficulties. The meaningful connections I’ve made, the unforgettable memories I’ve created, and the profound personal growth I’ve experienced have made every journey worthwhile.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, I took a two-year career break, during which I embarked on several solo road trips. These adventures turned out to be more thrilling and addictive than I ever imagined. The journey continues to this day.
Now, as the HR Head of a firm, I plan my travels as frequently as possible—usually once every two months. With my boys now establishing their own careers, I feel more at ease dedicating time to myself. Balancing work, family, and my workout routines, I love challenging myself to manage it all. And I believe I’m succeeding.
The purpose of this travel blog is to inspire you to stop overthinking and start doing what truly makes you happy. I know you’ve probably heard this advice countless times, but I speak from personal experience. I’ve lived this truth, and I hope my journey encourages you to embrace yours.
I’m more of a luxury traveler than an adventure seeker, but that doesn’t stop me from uncovering hidden gems along the way. My trips are a mix of both worlds. Whether I’m on a road trip or flying to a new destination, I love planning my journeys with an emphasis on comfortable and stylish accommodations. For me, it’s all about enjoying the finer things while also discovering the unique and often overlooked spots that make each place special.
